With the rise of the national industrial economy,the development of the automobile industry plays a huge role in boosting China's economy.However,according to the consumption speed of the oil,the world's proven oil resources can be only use for about40 years.Therefore,it is imperative to update the energy structure.Translating the book Natural Gas-Powered Cars and Trucks: Options and Issues will undoubtedly raise people's awareness about utilizing the alternative energy sources.At the same time,the energy policies,technologies,and useful suggestions in this book have great practical significance for the government and individuals.This practice report introduces,analyzes and summarizes the translation practice on the basis of translating Natural Gas-Powered Cars and Trucks: Options and Issues.The report mainly includes task description,process description,case analysis and practice conclusion.Task description mainly focuses on the introduction of the source text and the significance in the translation practice.Process description is divided into pre-translation preparation,translation theory researching,glossary building,translation difficulties description,translation review and modification process.The pre-translation preparation mainly illustrates the process of searching the material of natural gas,learning relevant professional knowledge and choosing translation tools;translation theory researching part elaborates Peter·Newmark's communicative translation theory;moreover,the translator builds a glossary which covers the terminologies and abbreviations occurred in the source text and discusses the translation difficulties as well as solutions;meanwhile,the translator introduces the translation review and modification process.Case analysis carried out at lexical level,syntactic level and textual level to reveal the guidance of translation theory to translation practice.The last part of the report is conclusion in which the translator points out the significance of the translator's linguistic proficiency,information search ability and diligent learning attitude to solve the obstacles and achieve correct translation works.
