A Report On The English-Chinese Consecutive Interpretation At The 2015 Hohhot Workshop For Elite Football Coaches And Teenager Footballers

As a report on English to Chinese consecutive interpreting (E-C CI) without text, this report describes one CI task conducted by author for Orange Pioneer, Global Football——Hohhot Workshop for Elite Football Coaches, Hohhot Training Camp for Teenager Footballers in 2015. Hosted by Hohhot Football Association, the 10-day training camp invited three international one-class football experts from Netherland to give training lessons to primary and middle school football coaches in Hohhot. With this opportunity, the author tries to analyze the interpretation of the training lessons given by the three football experts and discuss common difficulties of E-C CI as well as possible coping strategies and solutions.Reviewing the task process, the report highly emphasizes on "pre-interpreting preparation" and "interpreting", each with a different focus and function, and presents the transcript of both the original speech and the author's interpretation, from which typical examples are selected for further analysis from four perspectives:(1) Difficulties of interpreting of professional football terms, (2) Strategy of simplification, (3) Analysis of hesitation, correction and misinterpretation, and (4) Addition.Through the task description and analysis, it is found that practice is a very important way for one who wants to be a good interpreter; Flexible interpreting strategy should be adopted; Pre-interpreting preparation is very important and the preparation has an enormous impact on a professional consecutive interpreting task; During the interpreting process, if there is any problem with the original speech, one should communicate with the spokesman immediately; Besides, you should adjust to the situation and concentrate on interpreting task.
