A Practice Report On Interpreting For Delegation From Xavier University Of Louisiana Visiting Affiliated Hospital Of Hebei University

This practice report is based on the escort interpretation for University of Xavier Louisiana visiting the Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University.The material is selected from the consecutive interpretation for the meeting between China and the United States during the process of escort interpreting.The author had done a lot of preparatory work,played calmly on the scene,and made a summary after the interpretation and clarified the direction of what to do in future.This practice report is divided into five parts.The first part is the task description,which introduces the background,objectives and characteristics of the escort interpretation.The second part is process description,which describes the situations of pre-interpretation,on-site interpretation and post-interpretation,and what specific work has been done.The third part is divided into online work and offline work,which introduces every step in detail.Online work mainly collects information about the University of Louisiana Xavier and the affiliated hospital of Hebei University,some medical vocabulary that might be used,and reviewed the interpretation theory.The offline work is to ask the relevant staff about the situation of the visiting group and affiliated hospitals as well as the people who will join the meeting.In addition,the author conducted intensive training in the early stage for this task.The fourth part is case study,which describes details of the difficulties encountered at the site and the coping tactics.The fifth part is the conclusion of the task,mainly talking about the gains of this interpretation,limitations and future efforts.
