In August,2014, at the kind invitation of Guangxi University, Professor Ashley Lloyd from the University of Edinburgh came to have a short meeting with leaders of Guangxi University. They exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation. This meeting was a significant step to broaden mutual understanding both for Guangxi University and the University of Edinburgh. They took this opportunity to learn from each other and achieve common progress. The international image and academic atmosphere of Guangxi University also had been enhanced. Entrusted by International Exchange Department of Guangxi University, the author was honored to provide Chinese-English and English-Chinese consecutive interpreting for this meeting.In this thesis, the author introduces the background information and pre-interpreting preparation firstly. And then, combining the relevance theory and the coping tactics put forward by Gile and Roderick Jones, the author analyzes the problems and solutions in detail. At last, the author makes a conclusion and self-evaluation.The following conclusions can be made from this report. First, pre-interpreting preparation is an indispensable part in the whole process of interpretation. Second, the interpreter’s coping tactics for accidents must be improved.
