The Influence Of Contextual Factors In Communication And Coping Strategies

With the development of globalization,the international interaction between China and other countries has increased.Interpreting,a way of communication,plays an important role in foreign affairs.Diplomatic interpretation is characterized by strong political content and timeliness,which requires the interpreters to work quickly and accurately.The interpreting mainly consists of understanding and expression,and they are inseparable from the context.In order to interpret accurately,the interpreters have to understand spokesperson by analyzing and grasping the context in particular situation.This report takes the speech of Xi Jinping delivered At the Opening Ceremony of The BRICS Business Forum,as a corpus to do a consecutive interpreting practice.The author of the report encounters problems with vocabulary,interpretation of long sentences and intercultural communications during the process.To solve those problems,the author of the report proposes strategies from three aspects: linguistic context,situational context and cultural context.Typical examples are taken and analyzed from this interpreting practice,hoping to provide some help for interpreter in their career.
