Textbook is an important factor in teaching activities,also the basis for teaching and learning.a good textbook plays an important role in the whole teaching processes.As China's international influence are growing,more and more people begin to learn Chinese.However,textbooks cannot meet the needs of the majority of learners,especially the elementary textbooks."Developing Chinese"(Elementary Comprehensive Course)and "Experiencing Chinese”(Basic Course),these two versions are the elementary comprehensive textbooks with high utilization rate in recent years that have a wide scope of influence,so what's the difference?advantage and disadvantage between the two versions that worth studying.But at the same time there is less research has been done on them,so according to “the teaching outline for the primary stage of teaching Chinese as a foreign language”,compared them from many aspects,such as,compiling concept,text,vocabulary,exercises,grammar and culture,to find out the advantages and disadvantages of two sets of textbooks and offer advice to improve comprehensive textbooks of primary stage.This thesis consists of five parts: the first part is the introduction which introduces the reason of the topic selection,research purpose and significance,research status and methods;The second part is to compare compiling concept and styles.In the third part,to compare the teaching theories from the aspects of phonetics,vocabulary,text,exercises,grammar,culture and points out the advantages and disadvantages.The fourth part is the Suggestions from analysis of two sets of textbooks;The fifth part is the conclusion which summarizes the research results and research value of this paper.
