The text for this translation report is based on the translation of the eight to eleven chapters of Peer Interaction and Second Language Learning written by Jenefer Philp,Rebecca Adam.The text introduces the knowledge related to peer interaction and second language learning to the reader with concise language and strict logic.The reason for choosing Peer Interaction and Second Language Learning as the original text is that it has no Chinese version yet.Based on the completed translation of the eight to eleven chapters,this report investigates translation difficulties and corresponding methods,aiming at improving translation level and providing some references for later translation work.This translation practice report is composing of three stages,including preparations before translation,translating process,and proofreading.Judging from the aspects of words,sentences and dialogues,the report expounds the difficulties in translating process,such as word class,polysemy words,attributive clauses,long and complex sentences.The report also illuminates the translation methods which are corresponding to translation difficulties through analysis of concrete cases,including conversion,choice of words' meaning,combination,division,amplification and other methods.Furthermore,this practice report sums up translation difficulties and methods to draw lessons from this translation experience,which are as follows:(1)Translators should fully understand the knowledge of peer interaction and second language learning in order to enrich knowledge and broaden the horizon.(2)Translators need to have a rigorous academic attitude and master translation skills adroitly.(3)Translators tend to strengthen the study of English-Chinese translation,enhance professional skills,and consolidate self-ability constantly in future practices.Peer Interaction and Second Language Learning appeals to a large amount of readers with its concise,natural language since it was published,the book has gotten substantial good comments from readers.Moreover,it provides a great number of excellent ideas for those who study the knowledge about second language and peer interaction.
