A Report On The Translation Of Social Information News Of Huanqiu Website From The Perspective Of Translation Variation Theory

With the rapid development of the Internet and information globalization,China's media industry has developed rapidly and become in line with the international community gradually.As it absorbs a large amount of information from abroad,the translation of foreign news into Chinese becomes increasely valuable in order to meet the growing reading demands of domestic readers.Huanqiu Website,a large Chinese and English bilingual news portal with independent editing rights,provides a translation platform as well as introduces a large number of foreign latest information and news.The author has worked as an intern in the Social Information channel of Huanqiu Website and has translated some news from Daily Mail.The Social Information channel of Huanqiu Website draw its materals from various anecdotes from all over the word,showing domestic readers a colorful world.The language style of the ST is lively and vivid,with precisely-selected and expressive words as well as lots of new words.The news often prepose core content first and largely use parenthesis,passive voices.The news focuses on readability and enjoyment of the text so as to attract readers' interests.But some of the source news are lengthy,and pay much attention to describe the details of the information,therefore the ST needs to be adjusted.While the basic principle of Translation Variation Theory is to adjust the original text properly by adopting appropriate translation methods and skills,such as addition,subtraction,compilation,narration,contraction,blending and transformation.Therefore,based on the previous study,this thesis combines the specific translation practice with the Translation Variation Theory as guidance,analyzes the translation practice in title reconstruction,leads creation,selective translation in paragraph and trans-editing in discourse.The translation report is divided into four chapters.The first chapter describes the translation tasks,explains the background of translation,translation content and the requirements of the client.The second chapter is a specific description of the translation process and Translation Variation Theory.The third chapter is case analysis,from title reconstruction,leads creation,selective translation in paragraph and trans-editing in discourse.The fourth chapter summarizes the practice of translation and the experiences and lessons learned from this translation practice.Based on the translation texts,this translation report combines the Translation Variation Theory with the translation practice of Huanqiu Website,and chooses the selective translation,trans-editing and other translation skills from Translation Variation Theory to combine with the translation text in innovative methods,in order to improve the quality of the translation and prove that the theory is practical and operable at the same time.
