Science fiction is originated from England,and soon has been accepted world-wide since the development of Industrial Revolution.In recent years,science fiction has aroused people's attention.More and more American science fiction works have been introduced to Chinese readers.Americans prefer to seek adventures and explore mysteries;thus the themes of science fiction they created are various and American science fiction is loved by Chinese viewers.This translation report is based on the translation practice of a short fiction The Maker of Moons,written by Robert W.Chambers.This report is mainly to deal with problems in the translation practice of The Maker of Moons.It is directed by the Three Principlesof Science Fiction Translation(Retaining Literary Value,Plain Language,Science Features)which was put forward by Guo Jianzhong,to analyze the translation matters.This report first introduces background information of science fiction,including a brief introduction tothe writer,a plot summary of The Maker of Moons and value of this novel.Then,this paper illustrates the translation standards and the language features of this novel.At last,this report explores translation strategies and methods as extension,borrowing,reversion,conversion by using the examples from the original text.
