Feng Xiaogang is a director with distinctive characteristics.The films he has directed have always earned amazing results at box-office during his film career that began with Farewell My Love in 1994.However,he and his films are both flattered by the mass media and denounced by the repudiator in speech and in writing alternately and incessantly.It is obviously that his movies are commercial products,while he started to pursue the artistic values of films later in his career.In this paper,with the films co-operated by Feng Xiaogang,Liu Zhenyun and Yan Geling as the main research objects,the key word “literary adaptation” is elaborated,and the relationship between the style transformation and artistic transformation of Feng's films and the literary creation is analyzed.The aim of this paper is to explore the relation between film and literature so that to provide references for Chinese film makers to create more excellent works.This paper is consisted of introduction,main body and conclusion.The main body is divided into five chapters as follows:In Chapter One,the literary adaption theory is introduced.First,the relationship between literary adaption and films and the presentation of literary narration and film narration are elucidated,then the literary adaption is expounded,subsequently the relation between Chinese film development and literary adaption is discussed,and lastly the literary adaption of Feng's films is summarized.In Chapter Two,three transformation stages of Feng's films are divided.The first stage is the adaption stage represented by Wang Shuo,namely the representative comedy with Feng's humor.Based on the combination of literary text and film,the language features narrative features and video features of this stage are analyzed.In Chapter Three,the second stage is the adaption stage represented by films co-operated by Liu Zhenyun and Feng.With these three films Cell Phone,Untitled Remembering 1942 Project and I Am Not Madame Bovary as examples,the features of Feng's film of this tage,and the differences in film style and genre between adapted film and literary text are interpreted.In Chapter Four,with literary text Youth and adapted film Youth taken as examples,the narration and language between literary text and adapted film are compared,and then the artistic style and video features of Feng's films of this stage are further analyzed.In Chapter Five,based on the research results above.This part is the author's summary of the ideological content expressed in the whole article.Specifically,it is a summary of feng xiaogang and his films.The innovation in this paper mainly embodies in presenting the transformation of Feng's film style from the perspective of literary adaptation through the combination of novel texts and specific films with the help of analyzing Feng's films from early stage to modern days.Besides,these two major issues,the literary adaptation and the transformation of film style,are specifically analyzed under different times.
