A Practice Report On Sentence Restructuring Strategies In A Chinese-English Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Under Interpretive Theory

In recent years,with the continuous development of the world economy and the accelerating process of globalization,exchanges between countries and regions have become more and more frequent.Interpreters and translators,the important medium for communication between countries with different native languages,have received more and more attention.As a major form of translation,interpreting is a great challenge to interpreters as it demands the short-term memory ability,bilingual literacy,stress tolerance and improvisation ability.The author chooses Realize Chinese Dream From Filial Piety as the corpus of this Chinese-English simulated consecutive interpreting task.There are mainly two reasons for the choice of the corpus: Firstly,the content mainly involves Chinese traditional culture and the cultural contrast of Eastern and Western,and it is conducive to promoting Chinese traditional culture and the international community’s understanding of Chinese excellent traditional culture.Secondly,culture itself is very professional which enables interpreters to master more cultural terminology,and improve the understanding and application ability of interpreting strategies while doing the task.In the process of the task,the interpreter discusses the sentence restructuring and gives some corresponding strategies based on Interpretive Theory.After the task,the interpreter has found that sentence restructuring strategies under Interpretive Theory can effectively save time and improve the quality of interpreting.In addition,adequate preparation is a necessary condition for the success,and the interpreter’s professionalism determines the faithfulness of the interpreting task.Through the practice of the task,the interpreter has broadened the cultural horizon,deepened the understanding of Interpretive Theory,and improved the ability of interpreting.And at the same time,the interpreter hope that the interpreting strategies proposed in this paper can provide reference for other interpreters.
