The material of this report is a video released by Facebook official website-"Facebook for Developers",which is adopted by the author as a simultaneous interpreting practice.The author finds out barriers in interpreting and comes up with corresponding strategies under the guidance of interpretive theory.The first part of this practice is preparation.The author installs Facebook App and searches relative videos for helping anticipate the topic of this practice.During the process of interpreting,as the lecturer gave an improvised speech with PowerPoint,the author finds out that some sentences are semantically repeated and wordy,and the lecturer spoke with a great many colloquial words,terminologies and long sentences.In addition,simultaneous interpreting demands interpreters to produce in extremely short time meanwhile to guarantee accurate translation,thus the interpreter has to be fast in speed and be concise in quality.Therefore,the author comesis adopted to deal with repeated words and wordy sentences.Long sentences are tackled by up with strategies in the chapter of case study.The strategy of simplification segmentation and repetition.Zero translation is applied when terminologies occur based on syntactic linearity.Strategy of anticipation is implemented in interpreting.In the summary part,the author conducts that these strategies helped the author relieve memory burden and release mental pressure,and let the audience better grasp the message delivered by the lecturer.Through this practice,the author is inspired by the interpretive theory,and hopes this report would be a useful inspiration and reference for future simultaneous interpreting.
