Exercises,a microcosm of the key content of teaching,are important ways for students to consolidate the content of Chinese learning and test the teaching results.Further more,exercises are significant for many language learners to acquire knowledge and skills.From the view of language learning,exercises are also a way of drilling Chinese knowledge and transforming knowledge into available capacity.From the perspective of the comparison of exercises,this thesis uses two sets of international Chinese intermediate textbooks "Developing Chinese"(I,II)and "Bridge"(upper and lower)which are used as the research object based on the previous studies on international Chinese textbooks.By contrastive analysis of the length of after-class exercises,the amount of questions,the types of questions as well as the contents of the two sets of textbooks,and the matching degree between after-class exercises and HSK5,this thesis also explores the characteristics of the two sets of intermediate textbook exercises.Combined with the results of comparative analysis,the design and use of textbook exercises are seriously considered.This thesis includes the following parts: the first is the comparative analysis of exercise length.Calculating the percentage of the number of exercises pages in each lesson and the proportion of the exercise part in the whole book,the author tried to preliminarily present the overall framework of the exercise.The second is the analysis of the amount of exercise questions,examining the intensity of the exercises in each set of textbooks and then conducting a comparative analysis.The third is a comparative analysis of the exercise types.By examining the types and distribution of questions,the main and secondary questions,the characteristics were analyzed.The fourth is a contrastive analysis of exercises’ contents.By the analysis of the types,quantity and proportion of these five parts of the exercises’ contents,the compilation characteristics of the two sets of textbooks in the contents of exercises are compared.The fifth is the comparative analysis of the matching situation between the two sets of textbook exercises and the HSK5 level.The matching of the two sets of textbook exercises was investigated from listening,reading and writing,and finally the analysis and suggestion of the matching degree between the two sets of textbook exercises and HSK5 was proposed.
