Textbooks,an important part of teaching,directly affect the quality of teachers' teaching effect.Comprehensive textbook is designed to enhance learners' comprehensive ability.So far,lots of researches on internal elements of the comprehensive textbook and comparative studies of different comprehensive Chinese textbooks can be found.However,studies comparing the English comprehensive textbook and comprehensive Chinese textbook can barely been found.Therefore,on the basis of equivalence of user,the range of application and the idea,the author compare the Development of Chinese,an intermediate comprehensive textbooks,and Experiencing English,which is English comprehensive textbooks for non-English majors,trying to find their advantages and disadvantages and put forward my own thinking and suggestions for the compilation of Chinese textbooks.Chapter Two,Chapter Three and Chapter Four are specific comparison chapters.Through the comparative analysis of the layouts of textbooks,topic and type of the text,new words and annotation,quantity and type of exercises,what is found as follow:In the Development of Chinese,the longitudinal arrangement is meticulous but not rich.The proportion of the texts is uneven,and the topic is not rich enough.Also,the authenticity and objectivity should be emphasized when the textbooks are compiled.At the same time,we should pay attention to the equalization of skills training.In Chapter Three,through the comparative analysis of the texts,the quantity,content and form of practice,it is found that there are less exercise in Chinese textbooks.Therefore,the amount of practice should be increased,at the same time,the balance of the practice skills should be emphasized.In the Experiencing English,the arrangement is more rich,the topic is rich enough,type and style of the text is comprehensive,but the proportion is uneven.Also,the quantity of exercise is meutral,the arrangement of the exercise is more rational.Obviously,the layout design is more attractive.Finally,According to the advantages and disadvantages of the teaching material and the author's understanding of intermediate comprehensive Chinese textbooks,the author recommends the following Suggestions: In compiling textbooks,the editors should grasp and express the detailed writing ideas in the textbooks,pay attention to the kinds of textbook writing style and the rationality of the related project Settings,then they can set learning goals,self assessment,class discussions etc.In terms of the topic,the editors can enrich the typics and select common and social culture to expand.On setting practice,appropriate and rational practice should be setted.Also,the editors should set Teachers' reference books to help new teachers improve the efficiency of textbooks.It is hoped that it can help to enrich the theory and practice of the compilation of Chinese textbooks,promoting the development of the Chinese comprehensive textbooks.
