Mencius was a representative figure of Confucianism in the mid-Warring States Period.He developed Confucius' thought of benevolence into a political theory with a complete system-the theory of benevolent government.The concrete measures of the benevolent government include make the people rich and attaching importance to morality and religion etc.From another aspect,it can be called as thought of the King.This theory drawn a blueprint and an outline for the emerging landlord class to govern the country,and has had a profound impact on later generations.This thesis comprehensively expounds Mencius' political philosophy theory and combed from several aspects like the concrete measures of benevolent politics,the people-oriented thought,the moral education thought and the human nature theory basis of benevolent political thought.And through his comparison with the political philosophy of Confucius,Xunzi,Dong Zhongshu and others,to reflects the unique connotation and ideological charm of Mencius' political philosophy.This thesis is divided into six chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces Mencius' life story and expounds the historical background of Mencius' political philosophy.The second chapter focuses on the specific measures of Mencius' benevolent political thoughts: the production of the people and the division of the land,the emphasis on moral and education,and the opposition to hegemony and the promotion for the king thought.The third chapter introduces the core idea of Mencius' benevolent political thoughts “people-oriented doctrine thought”,and clarifies the value proposition of Mencius' people is more important than the King” and “People who win the hearts of the people,who win the country”.The fourth chapter reveals the human nature theory basis of Mencius' benevolent political thought--human nature is good,which illustrates the root of human nature theory established is the moral education.The fifth chapter mainly compares the human nature theory,political thought and value system among Mencius and Confucius,Xunzi and Dong Zhongshu,reflected the historical contribution and unique position of Mencius in the development of early Confucianism.The sixth chapter expounds the historical influence,limitations and modern significance of Mencius' political philosophy.It mainly discusses from the two aspects of people-oriented thought and moral education.Through the sublation of Mencius' political philosophy,it shows its socialist political civilization and today.An important inspiration for the construction of spiritual civilization.
