| As the largest developing country in the world,China attaches increasingly importance to the construction of its legal system.However,due to the differences in languages and cultures,China has been frequently blocked on the way to expressing its own idea.Therefore,to explore the applicable translation strategy and translation method under the appropriate translation theories is requisite for the development of foreign exchange on rule of law,especially for academic exchanges.How to let the world understand Chinese law and legal culture virtually and how to push them to “go globally” indeed depend largely on the quality of the translation of Chinese legal texts under the context of legal system with Chinese characteristics.The source text of this translation practice is a Chinese academic legal paper which mainly reveals that being trial-centered is the necessary development in criminal procedure towards the state of rule of law,which conforms to judicial rules.The cross-examination in court is the core of the court trial,so that to improve cross-examination in court trial is a crucial movement on the trial-centered procedure reform.Therefore,it is of substantial importance to translate and study this paper because it can offer an access to knowing the status quo of the judicial reform in China and learning the cutting-edge achievements in relevant academic researches.In this report,the author analyzes and generalizes the typical difficulties faced in Chinese-English translation of academic legal paper at both lexical and syntactic level and several practical solutions based on the detailed case analysis especially on choosing the specific translation methods under the guidance of Skopos theory which has played a guiding role in analyzing the typical cases,selecting the proper translation methods and tackling all the difficulties lying in the practice.To facilitate the future Chinese-English translation of academic legal paper,the legal terminology appearing in the translation practice has been screened out and put into a form attached to this report after multiple verification processes conducted by the author. |
