Academic translation,a bridge for the academic exchange,plays an important role in academic exchange.The source text of this translation report is selected from Confusion of Civilization-the Way out for Tibetan Education,a book written by Professor Baden Nima.Based on the cultural perspective,the book makes an analysis of Tibetan regional situation,culture and religion,so as to promote the common development of Tibetan school education,students and society.The author of this report is responsible for the translating from chapter 7 part two to chapter 8 part three.The source text of this translation project is an academic work,which is characterized by professional knowledge and difficult to understand.This paper is based on skopos theory.The purposes of author of the source text and translator are to accurately spread Chinese culture,reduce readers' reading barriers,promote academic exchanges,and allow foreign readers to accept Chinese academic works.Based on skopos rule,translator adopts paraphrase,imitation and explanation in the translating of culture-loaded words and long sentences containing culture-loaded words,making readers understand them more easily.Guided by the coherence rule,translator adopts such methods as division,combination,and shift to make the translation acceptable to the target language readers.Under the guidance of the fidelity rule,the translator adopts such methods as addition and omission to ensure that the target text is close to the source text on the premise of meeting skopos and fidelity rules.The source text of this translation report is an academic work on education,which helps students majoring in education and scholars studying education to understand Tibetan education.The author hopes that this report will provide some reference and help for the research and practice of academic translation.
