| In March 2014,National Core Arts Standards was released on America’s official website(http://www.nationalartsstandards.org/).It consists of five courses,including Visual Arts,Music,Dance,Theatre and Media Arts.Compared with the 1994’s version,the latest American National Core Arts Standards has been improved in its course theory as well as its assessment methods.China’s arts standards were published in 2012 and the arts standards for senior high school are still under way.China is currently at the crucial stage of its reform towards the competence-oriented education system.Therefore,a good understanding of American arts standards will be of significance for China’s improvement of its arts education.American National Core Arts Standards(2014,http://www.nationalartsstandards.org/)has no Chinese translation version yet.Hunan Fine Arts Publishing House purchased the copyright and authorized me to translate it with the other two translators in May 2016.I was assigned to translate about 50,000 words of the whole book.The team finished the translation of the book in May 2017.The Chinese version of National Core Arts Standards is going to be published in 2018.The report analyzes the purpose and function of National Core Music Standards in light of Functionalist Skopos Theory as well as the challenges and problems appeared in the process of translation,and summarizes its translation strategies and methods.The report mainly contains:the introduction to the content and linguistic features of the source text;the brief description of the translation process,including pre-task preparation,translation analysis and translation review;the application of Skopos Theory in the translation practice and translation strategies of specific cases. |
