| This is a translation report.The project is a chapter from Artificial Intelligence:101 Things You Must Know Today about Our Future,written by Lasse Rouhiainen.Lasse Rouhiainen is a well-known expert on artificial intelligence and social media.This chapter answers some common questions about artificial intelligence(AI)including how to apply AI,what impact AI has on personal privacy and why to set ethics.This report includes four major parts: First is the introduction to the translation project,namely its background and significance.The second part of this report is the introduction to the source text including its topics,comments and linguistic characteristics.AI,as an epoch-making technology,has been the center of international discussion.The author of the source text answered some frequently asked questions about AI based on his own research and experience.In the third part,the translator would present the guiding theory of the translation as well as its application.Fourth,the report also analyzes the difficulties and methods of this translation.The difficulties of this chapter mainly are terminologies,long sentences and passive voice.The source text is informative,whose first purpose is to convey information.Therefore the translation is in accordance with Translation Shift theory.For the last part,the translator concludes the experience and problems that still need to solve in this report. |
