There is a very frequent sentence pattern in TCSL,which is also a sentence pattern that Chinese learners often make mistakes. This is “shi de”sentence. Therefore,if a Chinese learner wants to learn Chinese well, accurately and thoroughly,it is essential to master this sentence pattern.By looking up the bias corpus of the HSK dynamic composition corpus for Chinese learners whose native language is English, this paper analyzes the types and reasons of their errors in learning “shi de” sentence pattern in the process of Chinese learning, and then improves the teaching activities and explores the targeted teaching methods. The paper consists of four parts:The introduction introduces the background and theoretical basis of the topic. The first part is an overview of “shi de” sentence pattern and a comparison between Chinese and English sentence structures. The second part analyzes the statistical errors by referring to the HSK dynamic composition corpus,so as to conduct a more in-depth study on the types of errors that occur in the learning process of foreign students who take English as their mother tongue. There are four common types of bias: omission bias, missequence bias, substitution bias and additive bias. The third part analyzes the errors according to the types of errors in the learning process. It is found that the errors are mainly influenced by negative transfer of mother tongue, negative transfer of knowledge of target language, misleading teaching and students' communicative strategies. The fourth part is about the teaching suggestions, the example of explaining in class and the example of teaching plans of “shi de” sentence in English and Chinese teaching. The conclusion summarizes the whole paper and points out the shortcomings.
