In recent years,due to the acceleration of China's opening up to the outside world,the continuous development of cross-border tourism and the rich tourism resources China boasts of,more and more foreign tourists come to China,hoping to learn more about this oriental country with a long history.With the increase in the number of inbound tourists,the demand and requirements of the tourism industry for guide interpreters are also increasing accordingly.As a bridge between foreign tourists and local guides,guide interpreters play an important media role in promoting cultural exchanges between Chinese and foreign cultures and connecting two cultures.However,due to the differences in history,language,religion,and way of thinking between Chinese and Western cultures,guide interpreters face difficulties and challenges in the process of conducting guide interpretation.How to overcome the differences between Chinese and Western cultures faced by guide interpreters in the course of their work is a difficult problem to be solved.This report takes the guide interpreting practice of the author in Dujiangyan City during the summer vacation in 2017 as the material and selects one interpreting task for an African official who came to visit Chengdu as the research object.Through case analysis,the author summarizes the guide interpreting strategy used in the face of cultural differences in the process in order to help tour guide interpreters to overcome the cross-cultural problems encountered,improve the level of language services,facilitate foreign tourists to visit,and ensure smooth communication between tour guides and tourists.The report consists of five parts.The first chapter is the introduction.In this part,the author briefly introduces the background,current situation and significance of the guide interpreting.The second chapter is the task description,the author conducted her preparation from four respects,including the collection of background knowledge,the production of glossary,the training of interpretation skills and the theoretical preparation.Among them,the theoretical preparation mainly outlines the basic concepts of intercultural communication and the guiding significance for the guide interpreting.The third chapter is the case study.By combining the cases,the author summed up six interpretation strategies with high frequency and strong feasibility,including diction,amplification,omission,conversion,inversion,repetition and etc.In this chapter,the author also selected some cases,through analysis,summed up that the lack of professional vocabulary,expression and background knowledge is the main source of interpreting barriers.The fourth chapter is the three-party evaluation,which reflects the evaluation of the interpreter task from the client,foreign guest and interpreter herself.The fifth chapter is the conclusion.In this part,the author summarizes the report and puts forward some sentiments and reflections.
