A Practice Report On Guide Interpreting On Yuntai Mountain Scenic Spot

Globalization waves have been sweeping over the world.Cross-cultural communications in different countries become common.Inbound and outbound tourism has become a trend.With the development and improvement of material and spiritual life,people's demand for tourism is rising.In particular,after China's reform and opening up,with the fast development of economy,China has attracted world-wide attention.More and more foreigners are interested in China,a mysterious place,and come to China to visit scenic spots and historical relics.Tourism is the world's largest cultural industry.However,the language barrier becomes the huge obstacle in cultural communication.As an indispensable language bridge of cross-culture communication,the role of guide interpreter is of great importance.This report is based on the interpreting practice that the author accompanied two American friends to visit Jiaozuo Yuntai Mountain and provide guide interpretation.This report discusses the preparation before interpretation and the analysis of the guide interpretation process,including relevant information collection,encountered difficulties and problems in the process,the choice of interpreting tactics and strategies,as well as the analysis and summary of the case.The author summarizes the difficulties encountered in the interpreting process,including the solution of cultural-loaded words and poetic language.Because of the specialty of guide interpretation,it's inconvenient to take notes.which results in pressure on short-term memory.Though encountering some difficulties.there are also some advantages.The author puts forward relevant strategies at site interpretation.such as amplification.omission.paraphrase,follow-up explanation etc.This report combines theoretical study with the author's interpreting practice,sums up the gains and losses,in the hope to provide references for other interpreting learners.
