This report is based on the author's interpretation practice in the 2017 International Training Course on Livestock and Poultry Breeding Processing and Waste Disposal held by Southwest University of Science and Technology.Participants include two parties: interpreters of relevant training and trainees from different countries. The author's role as an interpreter is to facilitate their communication on training knowledge and related problems. The purpose of this report is to explore interpretive skills that can be guided by the Interpretive Theory. The Interpretive Theory was born in France last century, and its representatives are Seleskovitch and Lederer. This theory holds that translation should not only pursue the translation of linguistic units, and should not be limited by them.Translators should combine linguistic units with existing cognitive knowledge to extract the sense of a text. After obtaining the sense, the translator should express it naturally in the target language. This also implies that the translator should be faithful to the language habits of the audience when expressing. This interpretation report first introduces the background and significance of the project,pre-translation preparation, and then analyzes and explains its origin and development, relevant concepts and triangular model. Finally, the paper analyzes and evaluates the interpreting practice and summarizes some interpreting skills, such as addition, omission, anticipation, and catching the logic sequence of speech etc.Practice has proved that, guided by the Interpretive Theory, the quality of interpretation can be improved, and the interpretation skills summarized are highly practical. |
