This paper is an English to Chinese translation practice report featuring an all-around improvement through repetitive revisions,several rounds of proofreading.The translation text is the excerpt from Negotiating the Impossible,a new Harvard Business School textbook for the course of Negotiation written by Deepak Malhotra,a Professor in the Negotiations,Organizations,and Markets Unit at the Harvard Business School.Deepak Malhotra uses a variety of vivid and real cases of negotiations to show us how to defuse even the most potentially explosive situations and to find success when things seem impossible from a very fresh angle.The project team works closely under the guidance of the supervisor and follows the guidelines and requirements from the publishing house take the characteristics and needs of target readers into consideration in the translation process.The final translated version is qualified to be published due to strict proofreading and revision by the author,project partners,the supervisor and the editors of the publishing house.Each revised version of the translation text is collected and comparatively analyzed.The author finds out that there is a plenty of translating techniques and details from my partners and supervisor which are worth learning from as well as my own satisfying translations and limitations.The main body of this report is presented in the form of contrastive study of different translated versions from different perspectives through which the author has greatly sharpened the translation techniques and skills and made a dent in self-management,teamwork and project management.
