Synonymous monosyllabic adjectives refers to monosyllabic adjectives and disyllabic adjectives that contain the same morpheme and have the same or similar meanings.Both of the adjectives have similarities in form and meaning,and Chinese learners are prone to errors during their learning process.The acquisition of vocabulary is not only for the mastery of word form and meaning,but also,more importantly,for the usage of vocabulary.The learners are required to have a comprehensive understanding of the collocation object of words,the position of words in the sentence,even other grammatical usage,etc.With the comprehensive understanding,the learners could put words into phrases and sentences sequentially and correctly.Therefore,the main object of ontology research is definitely necessary.Through an overall study of adjectival usage,we would better comprehend the features of adjectives in terms of semantics and syntax,and lay a foundation for vocabulary teaching.In fields of ontology research,223 groups of monosyllable and disyllabic adjectives are selected from the National Syllabus of Graded Words and Characters for Chinese Proficiency as the research object and the collocation of monosyllabic adjectives and disyllabic adjectives is studied with the help of corpus.This paper makes a comprehensive investigation and analysis of the similarities and differences in semantic and syntactic,and tries to summarize some rules from the complicated phenomena in order to assist vocabulary teaching.In aspect of teaching research,this paper examines HSK dynamic Composition Corpus,and finds out the problems that Chinese learners tend to have when learning and using monosyllabic and disyllabic adjectives with the same morpheme and synonymy.Then according to the features of second language acquisition,some teaching suggestions are put forward for different stages of adjective teaching.
