The source material chosen for this mock simultaneous interpreting(SI)is two keynote speeches at the ATEC FinTech Open Forum of the Computing Conference 2017,Hangzhou.The theme of the forum is Empowering Ecosystem Partners,Achieving Financial Inclusion. The English speech,Future Prospects and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence,is delivered by Michael I.Jordan,Chairman of Ant Financial's Scientific Advisory Board and professor at University of California,Berkeley;the Chinese speech,AntBuckler – Intelligent Risk Control,is delivered by Zhang Ying,Senior Director and Head of AntBuckler,Ant Financial. The theoretical basis of this report is the Effort Models proposed by Professor Daniel Gile.During the mock simultaneous interpreting, the author,as per difficulties encountered, such as incoherence of logic of source-language speech, repetitive and redundant discourse of source-language speech, long syntactic structure, and ambiguity of utterance, etc.,leveraged appropriate coping tactics to deal with them for efficient allocation and coordination of the core Efforts, and faithful and accurate delivery of the interpretation. This practice report aims to offer student interpreters several useful coping tactics to deal with similar problems encountered;and to help them achieve an improved allocation of efforts during simultaneous interpreting,so that the quality of delivery and the accuracy of message can,to some extent,be improved.
