Vocabulary is the basis of the existence of language.With the coming of information society,the traditional single-modal vocabulary teaching couldn't keep up with the development of the time.With the support of the multimedia technology,multimodal theory has received more and more attention,but at present,the research on multimodality is still in a primary stage,and it is mainly used in English teaching,but rarely used in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.Therefore,it is of great significance to apply multimodal theory to Chinese vocabulary teaching.This paper is based on the full understanding of the research status of multimodality at home and abroad,the multimodal theory was introduced into the vocabulary of Chinese as a foreign language.The superiority and specificity of multimodal Chinese vocabulary teaching were summarized,and the theoretical exploration of related teaching methods was carried out.Then the experimental study will be carried out by the order of the pretest,experimental teaching,the second test,questionnaire survey,and analysis and discuss.The study found that: First,teachers can teach multimodal Chinese vocabulary according to the characteristics of different word classes and teaching links;Second,the multimodal Chinese vocabulary teaching has a significant advantage over the traditional model;Third,students recognize the teaching of multimodal Chinese vocabulary,and believe that it can fully mobilize multiple senses,which helps to stimulate learning enthusiasm and improve vocabulary memory.In addition,the author puts forward the problems that should be paid attention to when teaching multi-modal Chinese vocabulary:not all teaching is suitable for multi-modality,relevant theories need to be improved,etc.The suggestions are given: teachers should be multi-modal and supplemented by traditional methods;students should understand modal information and enhance benign interaction;schools should improve hardware facilities and scientific evaluation systems.In order to provide some reference value for the future research of multimodal theory in the application of Chinese vocabulary teaching.
