Chinese culture's "going out" strategy provides an opportunity for Chinese children's literature to go global. The Chinese version of The Story of Little Boy Ji Xiang is an excellent Chinese children's literature, winning the National Excellent Children's Literature Award in 2017.The C-E translation of The Stofy of Little Boy Ji Xiang complies with the requirements of the times. The thesis reviews studies on the translation of children's literature and finds that these studies mainly focus on the E-C translation of children's literature. There is a huge gap in the studies on the C-E translation of children's literature.Besides, translation is an activity that reduces the barriers between two languages and cultures.Translation ethics provides a new research perspective on current translation studies. Therefore, the thesis focusing on the research into the C-E translation of children's literature has a certain degree of innovation under Chesterman's translation ethics. After analyzing language features of the source text, the author finds that at the lexical level there are culture-loaded words, onomatopoeic words, proper nouns and appellations;at the syntactic level there are short sentences, long sentences and non-subject sentences;at the textual level there are book title, chapter titles and nursery rhymes;at the rhetorical level there are rhetorical devices such as simile, metaphor, pun and antithesis.Specifically, the translator mainly adopts the methods of literal translation and transliteration under the ethics of representation to represent the content of the source text,or the source author's intention or the source culture;the translator mainly adopts the methods of literal translation combined with intra-textual annotation, transliteration combined with intra-textual annotation, substitution and addition under the ethics of communication to facilitate communication between two languages and cultures and respect both the source text and target readers;the translator mainly adopts the methods of liberal translation, omission, division, restructuring, adaptation, combination and addition to make the translated text conform to norms in the target language and culture so as to meet foreign children's expectations. The thesis hopes to provide a reference for the C-E translation of children's literature and broaden the research scope of Chesterman's translation ethics, which is also the practical significance of the thesis.
