The thesis is an English-Chinese translation report that consists of three parts: source text, target text and the translation report. The source text is an excerpt from the book How to Do The Work—Recognize your patterns,Heal from your past,Create yourself. It is a popular science book written by American psychologist Nicole Lepera and falls into the category of the informative text. This book aims to publicize knowledge about Holistic Psychology and help readers to adjust their physical and psychological conditions and recover from childhood trauma through appropriate ways. The fourth and fifth chapters of this book dwell on the harmful effects that childhood psychological trauma has on one’s physical and psychological condition. In addition, these two chapters also summarize some methods that combine one’s mind and body to help one recover from childhood trauma.Since these two chapters are logically connected and carry referential value for target readers, the translator chooses these two chapters as her translation task.Translation ethics study translation from the perspective of ethics.Andrew Chesterman’s five models of ethics, which focuses on such values as “faithfully represent the source text” and “conform to the norms of expression of the target culture”,plays a significant role in guiding the translation process. So the translator follows the instruction of the five models of ethics in the whole translation process and analyzes the applicability of translation ethics in the translation of informative texts. In this thesis, the translator first makes an overall introduction to the translation practice, then she goes on to introduce translation ethics and the five models of translation ethics proposed by Andrew Chesterman.Next, the translator discusses the guiding role of translation ethics in the whole translation process from the perspective of the pre-translation preparation, the while-translation stage and the post-translation works. In the end,the translator reflects on and concluded the experience gained in the translation practice.
