A Report On The Translation Of New Energy Concept(Chapter ?) Based On Parallel Texts

Energy is the source power of economic development.Energy security can not only affect world political pattern,but also peace and tranquility of the world.Nowadays,China is actively participating in international energy cooperation,and the demand for the translation of Chinese energy publicity materials is increasing day by day.Therefore,the research on the translation of energy publicity materials is of great significance.This paper makes a study on the translation of Zhao Hongtu`s work--New Energy Concept(Chapter VII)based on parallel text.This book comprehensively analyzes the global energy pattern and development trends.It also reveals hot issues on China's energy security and development.In Chapter VII: “Is Energy the Achilles' Heel of China",China's energy security status and strategies on tackling China's energy issues are mainly explained.Belonging to energy publicity text,this chapter is political and specialized.The target text should not only convey the content of the source text completely and accurately,but consider the readability and comprehensibility of itself.Based on parallel texts,this report explores the problems and difficulties encountered in the translation process from acquiring professional knowledge,learning terminology,referring to parallel expressions and imitating writing style respectively.On acquiring professional knowledge,how search engines can be used to obtain the translation of institutional and base names is studied;On learning terminology,how the final translation of terms is attained according to their meanings is studied.On referring to parallel expressions,the selection,application and verification of translation results are analyzed by mainly taking the translation of four-character words as examples.On imitating writing style,the strategies on the translation of titles and long sentences are summarized.However,parallel texts can only be used as reference on translation.In order to do translation well,the translator should continue to work hard on improving the English competence.
