Report On C-E Translation Of The Golden Age Of Maritime Silk Road (Excerpts)

This report is derived from the Chinese-English Translation of The Golden Age of Maritime Silk Road(Excerpts).The report consists of four parts:task introduction,translation process,difficulties and solutions in the process of translation and conclusion.The source text is about the origin and development history of Huihui language education,history,philosophy and Yin-Yang theory and Huihui prescription.Translation of such kind of books will help us to learn about Chinese culture and exchanges and mutual learning among cultures will be promoted.Eugene A.Nida’s Dynamic Equivalence is chosen as the guiding principle of the translation practice;this report describes problems and solutions in the translation process from aspects at words,sentences,text,etc.By some specific examples,the content and characteristics of the source text are analyzed;difficulties and key points in the translation process are found out.The author searches lots of reference materials and adopts translation methods such as literal translation plus annotation to settle the vocabularies with Chinese characteristics.In terms of sentence translation,ancient Chinese and literary Chinese are the most difficult part to deal with.Translation techniques such as conversion and amplification are used to solve problems.Under the guidance of Dynamic Equivalence theory,the author tries her best to make the translated text as native as possible so that target readers will get the information which the original authors express.
