Chinese people are willing to pay much attention to their mental health and quality of life, but there is still a big gap between China and the West in the study of mental diseases. In the western countries, the researchers and consultants have achieved a great success in the psychology and mental health, which we should learn from them. These account for the reason why E-C translation of schizophrenia is of great significance in China. The translation report is based on an excerpt of Beyond Assessment of Quality of Life in Schizophre,ia,a volume of papers edited by A.George Awad and Lakshmi N.P.Voruganti.This report includes four main parts.Chapter one is the description of the translation task, including background information, text features and purposes of translation and its significance.Chapter two presents the translation process, introducing the preparation before translation, translation process and quality control.Chapter three is case analyses with the guidance of Skopos Theory, discussing the translation skills, including amplification, omission and division with regard to the problem occurring during the translation process.Chapter four is the summary of the translation practice which highlights amplifications gained in this translation practice and make some suggestions for translation academic materials in quality of life in schizophrenia.Through this translation practice and writing of the report, the translator has leanled a lot of knowledge about the quality of life of patients with schizophrenia and about the language organization and presentation skills. Moreover, the translation practice helps domestic medical staff deeply understand schizophrenia, and then apply advanced methods into clinical practice.
