| In January,2018,Jiangsu General Chamber of Commerce International Cooperation Conference was successfully held in Nanjing,Jiangsu.As an intern of the Liaison Department of Jiangsu Federation of Industry and Commerce,the reporter undertook the interpreting task of the project,including the nearly one-month conference preparation,11 guest speeches and signing ceremony of international cooperation projects on the indoor conference,and enterprises visiting on the next day.This report is based on the reporter's authentic whispered simultaneous interpreting practice in this project.By probing into the major challenges and causes during the interpreting,this report is aimed at summarizing the common obstacles in whispered interpreting as well as the corresponding solutions.The project report begins with the analysis on five major issues in whispered interpreting,including noise disturbance and voice control,long-time single-person working mode,communicative need,diversity in terminology and encyclopedic knowledge,and complexity in Chinese-English conversion.Through research and deep thinking,the reporter proposes five corresponding solutions:firstly,improving disturbance resisting ability;secondly,enhancing stress tolerance for high-intensity work;thirdly,learning communicative skills;fourthly,making long-term accumulation and targeted preparation;lastly,applying appropriate interpreting strategies,such as interpretation and simplicity.These solutions are elaborated on in the body part of the report,in the hope of providing valuable suggestions for the interpreting practice of MTI students,enriching the insufficient research on whispered interpreting and thus making some contribution to the theoretical research and practice of whispered interpreting. |
