So far,most scholars at home and abroad still equate business negotiation interpreting with business interpreting.There is no clear division between business negotiation interpreting and business meeting interpreting.The attention to the features of business negotiation interpreting is not enough,as well as the targeted studies on this field.During a product launch of a hair dye brand in Yinchuan,the author happened to have the honor to be the interpreter for a business negotiation.In the practice,the author met great challenge because of the difficulties brought by the features of business negotiation interpreting.After the event,the author realized that specifying the mentioned features and difficulties is the key of a successful interpreting performance in an international business negotiation.Therefore,the author plans to summarize the difficulties she experienced and put forward some corresponding coping strategies by analyzing her practice.The author finds there are three specific difficulties in business negotiation interpreting,including unexpected terminologies,interpreter’s difficulties in finding the logic and extra expectation for the interpreter.From her analysis,the author puts forward three coping strategies:accumulating encyclopedia knowledge,enhancing logical awareness and improving on-site adaptability.The author hopes that this report could arise academic attention to business negotiation interpreting and provide some enlightenment for student interpreters or interpreter trainees to perform better in similar situations.
