A Report On Interpreting Task In EU-China Business And Technology Cooperation Fair 2017

How to properly manage the differences between English and Chinese in a short spell of time and achieve bilingual conversion has always been a tricky issue in an interpreting task.This practice report takes the author's consecutive interpreting in the B2 B matchmaking talk of the 2017 EU-China Business and Technology Cooperation Fair as the research object and analyzes how to use different translation strategies to breakdown and process the source language under the guidance of the Skopos Theory in performing an interpreting task.This report is a practice report completed under the guidance of the Skopos Theory.The core concept of the Skopos Theory is that the most critical factor in the translation process is the purpose of the overall translation behavior.Skopos Theory holds that in the process of translating,translators should take the expected function of the translation as the starting point,and then combine specific context factors to select the best way to deal with the text.Besides,this report employs translation strategies such as literal translation,free translation,addition and omission in analyzing consecutive interpreting cases.At the outset,this practice report introduces the background information related to the interpreting task,and briefly informs the arrangements for the 2017 EU-China Business and Technology Cooperation Fair,participants' information and so on.The report then unfolds itself around interpretation task preparation.This chapter is mainly divided into two parts: theoretical preparation and pre-interpretation preparation.Subsequent analysis of interpretation cases under the guidance of the Skopos Theory constitutes the main body of this report.These case studies describe how the author takes advantage of various translation strategies to close the gap between English and Chinese under the guidance of the Skopos Theory in fulfilling the interpreting task.In closing,the author made self-assessment and reflection,in which the author evaluates his interpreting practice from multiple perspectives.In addition,listener feedbacks prove to be an invaluable asset.This report aims to review past interpreting practices and accumulate experiences in the hope of improving interpretation.
