This thesis,as a Chinese-English translation report,taking the first and the fourth chapters of Research on Theory and Practice of Teaching:Special Issues as the source text,is to expound the translation practice,and discuss how the translator finished it under the guidance of theory,and finally,there is a conclusion.Research on Theory and Practice of Teaching:Special Issues is an academic textbook on education and teaching,which is written by Chen Xiaoduan,one of famous professors of Tian Jiabing Education Academy in ShaanXi Normal University.There are 29,618 words in total.Based on the text classification theory proposed by Peter Newmark,a British theorist,this translation report mainly adopts communicative translation,and uses semantic translation in a few contexts.According to the features of this book-an informative text,the translator will use specific translation techniques(such as literal translation,omission,reconstruction)to translate it so as to be faithful to the content and style of source text.This translation report consists of five parts:first of all,it is the description of translation task;the second part is the translation process description,including translation preparation,translation process,and proofreading work;the third part introduces translation theory foundation,analyzing text classification theory,the feasibility,and strategies related to Newmark's theory;the fourth part is the statement of case analysis,consisting of main difficulties and typical cases in the process of translation report;the final part is the summary of translation practice,manifesting the unsolved problems,shortcomings and suggestions for further improvement.Through this translation practice,the translator hopes to improve her translation ability,and get better mastery of translation methods that can be adopted in the course of translating academic texts.Finally,the translator hopes that this translation text can provide references for educational learners.
