With the aggravation of the global water crisis, many ethical issues surrounding human water activities have gradually attracted the attention of more and more scholars.Contemporary water ethics research was first launched by western scholars. It is of great significance to construct China's water ethics value system by translating of books of Water and Ethics series and actively absorbing the research results of western academic circles. Therefore, the fourth volume of the series Water and Ethics is selected as the translation practice material.Based on Functionalist Skopos Theory, the core translation theory of German Functionalist Translation Theory, the translation strategy of Women and Water: An Ethical Issue is analyzed. This report is composed of five parts: translation task description, translation process description,Functionalist Skopos Theory and its guidance to academic texts, analysis of translation problems, and translation summary. The textual materials selected in this translation practice belong to academic texts.Academic texts are an important way of presenting academic achievements and play an important role in learning knowledge in a certain field.Their main purpose is to convey the author's research results and views.Different from other types of texts, academic texts have formal language, more complex sentences, passive sentences and nominal clauses, rigorous logic, strict structure, which all make its translation more difficult.Under the guidance of Functionalist Skopos Theory and combining with the characteristics of academic texts, the translator makes an analysis of the choice of translation strategies and proves the rationality of the theory in guiding the translation of academic texts into Chinese with a view to providing references for water and ethics and related translation in the future and promoting the construction of China's water ethics value system.
