Religion,as one of the most important parts in human civilization,is gaining more and more attention.Islam is one of the three major religions in the world. It is one of the cultural symbols in the Arabia region. The followers of Islam are named Muslim. In recent years, however, due to the deepening development of the global political structure and the frequent occurrence of armed conflicts, people often connect Islam with terrorism and other politically sensitive words, which might lead to some sensual or extreme views on Islam.Based on the current issues and situation, the book 50 Islam Ideas You Really Need to Know authored by Mona Siddiqui provides an access to appreciate Islam from a more rational perspective. In this book,Chapter 3 Ritual,Chapter 4 Gender and Chapter 5 Authority(amounting to over 17,000 words)are mainly focused on Islamic tradition and ideas. The translator chooses these three chapters as her translation task. This report is divided into four chapters.Chapter 1 describes the translation task, including the background and significance of the material.Chapter 2 introduces the translation process, including the preparations before translation, the analysis of the source text and control of the translation process. In Chapter 3,the translator uses learned translation theory and strategies to analyze the translation task from lexical, syntactical, and textual perspectives.Under the guidance of functional equivalence theory, different translation strategies are analyzed in different cases.Chapter 4 summarizes this translation practice, including the experience gained and issues to be further studied. The translation is of great significance whether in terms of cultural text translation or of the improvement of the translators' translation capability. It is an opportunity for translation proficiency improving and knowledge exploring in other fields. In conclusion, the translation of the original text is significant both theoretically and practically. The translator hopes the translated version can achieve the expected outcome and offer references for future studies.
