A Project Report On The C-E Translation Of Trial Measures For The Administration Of Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zone

With the proposal of "the Belt and Road" initiative,connections between China and countries along“the Belt and Road,route have been increasingly intimate,and cooperation has been continuously expanding,thus it is urgent to speed up the translation and publication of local regulations.However,owing to the existing problems such as non-identical standards and the uneven quality,it is imperative to strengthen the research on translating local regulations.In view of this,this report is presented on the basis of the C-E translation of Trial Measures for the Administration of Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zone(hereinafter referred to as Measures)and takes the English version of Law of the People's Republic of China on Foreign Trade as reference.Several specific difficulties encountered in the source text are shown through a careful analysis of its lexical and syntactical features.Compared with other legislative texts,the source text is characterized by frequently used four-character phrases and fuzzy expressions on lexicon.In terms of syntax,sentences with the "de(?)" structure and non-subject sentences are in common use.Given the aforesaid obstacles,the author mainly proposes the following strategies equivalent translation and 'translation plus explanation,may be adopted for four-character phrases;free translation and omission may be possible solutions to fuzzy expressions;sentences with the“de(?)”structure may take advantage of transformation of adverbial clauses of condition and addition of logical subjects;non-subject sentences may be solved via complementing logie subjects and being converted into passive sentences.Through combining personal translation practices,analyzing key and difficult points of translating local regulations and presenting corresponding solutions,the author attempts to make humble efforts for the domestic study on C-E translation of local regulations.
