This project report is built on the E-C translation of The Economist Guide to Financial Management,With the purpose of addressing the important and difficult issues, the project is also expected to contribute to the translation of economic or financial texts and the introduction of great financial management knowledge from other countries.Major difficulties in the course of translation are at two levels-lexical and syntactic. The lexical difficulties mainly lie in the translation of financial terms and proper nouns as well as noun phrases.Syntactically, the major difficulties are the translation of passive sentences and complex sentences.Approaches to addressing these two main issues are discussed under the guidance of Nida's functional equivalence theory coupled with specific translation strategies. For lexical difficulties, approaches including unpacking, shifting, conversion, division and amplification are used.Syntactic difficulties are resolved with the help of strategies including literal and free translation, division, conversion and change of conjunctions of subordinate clauses.Through this project, the author has had a deeper understanding of Nida's theory and has summarized the significant issues as well as some translation strategies in translating financial texts, expecting to make some contributions to the E-C translation of this kind.
