The Study Of ‘Buddhist-style' From The Perspective Of Youth Subculture

At the end of 2017,a popular phrase,'Buddhist-style',began to appear frequently throughout the Internet,which represents an Tuncontested and indifferent attitude towards life.After propagation by social media,'Buddhist-style' has gradually evolved from a popular Internet term into a cultural phenomenon,leading a phenomenon that almost everyone youth claims to be a Buddhist-style youth.This phenomenon gradually infiltrated into daily life,and brought a wave of "Buddhism",and eventually formed a new form of subculture.As an emerging youth subculture,'Buddhist-style' is undoubtedly an important subject in the current subculture research field.This paper aims to study the 'Buddhist-style' from the perspective of the youth subculture,using literature research method,text analysis method,questionnaire survey method,etc.In this study,it is believed that the popularity of 'Buddhist-style' reflects,to some extent,the mental state and ideology of the post-90s,whose behaviors and thoughts changed significantly comparing to the past.Due to various pressures in modern society,post-90s choose to avoid competition and let nature take its course.On the surface,the'Buddhist-style' seems to be uncompetitive and self-concentration,but it still possesses the youth subculture characteristics.However,during the transition from subculture to post-subculture context,the resistance of the 'Buddhist-style' subculture is obviously weakened compared to the earlier subculture.The popularity of "Buddhism" is not a simple phenomenon of network communication,it actually reflects that young people change their attitude towards life under great social pressure,so they need to think about the value and future development of this subculture.This study systematically summarizes the birth and development of 'Buddhist-style'as a new subculture and analyzes the reasons from multiple perspectives.As a kind of youth subculture,'Buddhist-style' has both the color of Birmingham school and the characteristics of postmodernism.This paper aims to make a supplementary study on the new academic topic of 'Buddhist-style' from the perspective of subculture,and at the same time,aims to play a role in introducing the study of 'Buddhist-style' in the future.
