A Project On The C-E Consecutive Interpreting Of China High-Speed Rail I:Times Melody From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

This thesis is a report on the simulated C-E consecutive interpreting(CI)practice based on Times Pulse,the first episode of the documentary China High-Speed Rail,under the guidance of Interpretative Theory.The interpreter chose this documentary for two reasons.First,China's railways have developed very rapidly in recent years,especially the high-speed rail.Many cities in China have constructed high-speed railways.The project intends to introduce to the world,by means of interpreting,the historical changes of China's railway development---it is difficult to make such considerable achievements.Second,against the background of the Belt and Road Initiative,the achievements and the valuable experience of China's high-speed railway construction can also help the development of the countries along the route and improve China's international status.This report consists of four chapters,namely introduction,project description,difficulties and solutions,and conclusion.Chapter One includes two parts---the project background and the theoretical basis.Chapter Two consists of the pre-interpreting preparations and the interpreting process.The interpreter makes preparations for the terminology,the proper nouns,and professional knowledge.Chapter Three is made up of difficulties and solutions.The interpreter comes across the following difficulties in the middle of interpreting:a lot of technical terms,related geographical knowledge,digital and Chinese four-character expressions,various semantic expressions,the dialect of the interviewees,sentences without subjects,and hidden information.Corresponding solutions have been worked out,such as omission,combination,amplification,and the like.Chapter Four reaches a conclusion.It is hoped that the findings of the report are helpful to the interpreters and other practitioners in this field.
