Idioms is a kind of fixed phrase with special significance and the product of the Chinese nation created during the process of long-term development in modern Chinese.It contains many historical elements and semantic characteristics.Because of its rhetoric form and concise expression,it is the common language in the life.As an indispensable part of vocabulary,colors words are closely related to our life.With the development of history,color words in different periods come into idioms to keep the original characteristics of idioms.Meanwhile,color words are obviously different from each other in different linguistic and cultural backgrounds,endowing idioms with characteristics of era and unique cultural connotation,and causing certain difficulties for students who study Chinese as a second language.The research object of this paper is the idioms with color words:red,yellow,green,qing,blue,purple,white and black”in modern Chinese.First,collecting the idiom in dictionary;Second,analyzing them from the structural form,semantic characteristics and cultural connotation.Third,establishing a contains a collection of words of color idioms to help the learners to master such idioms in a short period of time.Fourth,with the help of a dictionary of Chinese as a foreign language writing principle to write a color word phrase handbook to help then to learn idioms.This paper consist of four parts:The first part is the introduction.This part mainly introduces the significance,background,the value of the topic,relevant literature review,writing methods,as well as the key points and difficult points and innovation points of this paper.The second part is the analysis of idioms with color words from many points of view.This part mainly analyzes idioms with color words from three aspects: quantity,origin,structural form,semantic characteristics and cultural connotation.The third part is the study of idioms with color words in TCSL.This part starts from the characteristics of vocabulary teaching Chinese as a foreign language by investigating the frequency of idioms with color words in the modern Chinese corpus of BCC.On this basis,through the contents,difficulty and screening of semantic transparency,the author determined set of suitable for teaching practice.In order to help learners master idioms with color words in a short period of time,the author compiled a handbook which is suitable for learners to study idioms with color words with the help of the compilation principle of the Chinese dictionary for foreigners.The last past is conclusion.Summarize this study and state the deficiencies.
