Children are the hope and future of the nation.Nowadays,with more attention paid to children’s education,children’s literature is becoming more popular in the domestic market.It is playing an important role in the growth of children.Although China is a country with the most readers of children’s literature,its translations are not all of good quality.It is urgent for people to study and explore the translation of children’s literature.The translation report is based on the source text Six to Sixteen by Juliana Horatia Ewing,making a study on its English translation under the guidance of Skopos theory and its rules.Taking the features of children’s literature into account,the report analyzed the translation of narrative language,dialogues and cultural elements.The translator tried to make the translation conform to the thoughts and habits of children.In terms of the translation of narrative language,the translator applied reduplication,rhotic accent,degree adverb and onomatopoeia to make the language vivid.In light of the translation of dialogues,to guarantee the coherency of sentences,the translator did not confine herself to the translation of “said” or “told”.In tackling the cultural elements,the translator used domestication as a main strategy to ensure the accuracy and readability of the translation.Through the translation practice,the translator has got a better understanding of the translation strategies of children’s literature.At the same time,the translator improves the translation ability to solve practical problems by putting theories and techniques into application.The translator hopes that this report may provide readers with some guidance and reference for the translation of children’s literature.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 27...
