This translation practice, with Chapter Nine and Chapter Ten of the English travel notes In Search of England by Henry Morton,a journalist and travel writer in England,as translation materials.Under the guidance of Newmark's Communicative Translation Theory, this paper explores the translation methods applicable to travel notes from the lexical and sentence levels, such as annotation, free translation, conversion of parts of speech,four-character structure, division, amplification, recasting and omission.Newmark's Communicative Translation Theory puts the reader in the first place and tries to make the target language readers and the source language readers have the same reading effect. In order to make that translation more consistent with the expression habits of the target language, the translator can adjust the sentence structure of the original text without changing the contents of the original text.Generally speaking, the purpose of communicative translation is not to leave questions or obscure things for readers,so as to achieve a certain communicative role.According to the analysis of text types, travel notes belongs to expressive text and informative text, which are suitable for the guidance of Communicative Translation Theory. The purpose of this translation practice is for the reader to understand more about the historical and cultural background of England and to experience the original author's love and reverence for England. In the process of translation practice, the translator chose someappropriate translation methods under the guidance of Communicative Translation Theory, which not only achieved the goal of translation practice, but also solved many translation problems. Therefore, the author of this paper believes that Newmark's Communicative Translation Theory has certain practical value for the E-C translation of travel notes.
