As the Sino-U.S.relation develops,cultural exchange plays an increasingly important role in the relation between the two countries.However,at present,our people still lack some understanding of the ecological environment,local history and social conditions of the United States.Through the translation of this work,people in China can have a deeper understanding of the ecological environment of the United States and local people's life.At the same time,our people can read more about the traveling experience of Bill Bryson,the world's most interesting travel literature writer,to know more about the rich emotions and profound implications of his work.Bill Bryson is recognized as the world's most interesting travel literature writer.A Walk in the Woods?1?is one of Bill Bryson's major works,mainly about zero-outdoor-experienced Bill Bryson and his friend's experience on hiking Appalachian Trail.The original is a travel notes,including some narration and discussion.And most sentences are short,colloquial,and lack of subject or other ingredients.Therefore,when translating it,the completeness of the sentences needs to be paid more attention.In conclusion,the translator chooses Nida's theory of functional equivalence as the theoretical support for the translation report,and uses many translation methods in translating long sentences and attributive clauses and dashes in the original text.This report consists of an introduction,the main body and a conclusion.First,the translator mainly introduces the significance of travel notes'translation.Then she gives a brief introduction to the plot of the original text,A walk in the woods,the author,the characteristics of travel notes translation,the difficulties of the translation including wording,style and culture,as well as the goals the translator expects to achieve through the translation practice.In the end,the translator states the experience of writing the report and hopes that this translation practice will provide some experience and references for the translation on the same subjects.
