The teaching materials as a communication platform of knowledge and culture,which compilation quality is directly related to the teaching quality and students' learning effect.Textbooks,as one of the three elements connecting teachers and teaching methods in teaching activities,are particularly important for teachers to successfully complete teaching."To do a good job,one must first sharpen one's tools," a set of excellent teaching materials to teachers' teaching work have the effect of get twice the result with half the effort.Therefore,the selection and research of textbooks are of great significance.This paper based on the two sets of children's second language textbooks,Chinese Paradise and Cambridge Youns Learners English,which are frequently used,are taken as the research object.We will mainly analyses the compiling concept,topic selection,text content and language elements compiling of the two sets of textbooks,based on the comparison and then analyses and summarizes their compiling characteristics.This paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which put forwards the significance of this study,outlines the research methods and objects,and lists the previous research results.The second chapter mainly analyzes the compiling ideals and textbook style of two,in order to gasps two sets of textbooks in general.The third chapter is based on macro,compares the Compiling Characteristics of the two textbooks from the aspects of topic,text exercise section and consolidation exercise design.Referring to the topic setting standards of YCT Level I syllabus and English syllabus of compulsory education stage,the author makes a comparison between the two sets of textbooks on topic writing,and examines the similarities and differences between the two sets of textbooks on text practice plate and exercise content.Chapter IV is based on the micro,from the phonetics,vocabulary,grammar and other aspects of the investigation,trying to find their respective reference in the comparison.On the basis of the analysis and reference of the fifth chapter,we think that the teaching materials should make full use of children's love for color,increase the diversity of children's textbooks' color,select the topic content that children like,add the diversity of style,and give full consideration to children's learners' psychological characteristics and enhance their interest in language elements teaching.Based on the analysis,some suggestions are put forward to improve the compilation of the above two sets of language textbooks,and some enlightenment is obtained on how to compile children's second language textbooks.
