With the rapid development of society,people's material needs are gradually met,and meanwhile,psychological problems are gradually attached importance to by people.The demand for talents in applied psychology is increasing,and master of applied psychology with excellent quality can have greater advantages in the severe situation of employment.In order to obtain the master of applied psychology with excellent quality,the school should pay attention to the selection and training of postgraduates.Therefore,the research on the competency model of the master of applied psychology can help the school to select and train the master of applied psychology.Based on literature analysis and expert interview,this study on the data obtained,and then has carried on the questionnaire and,in combination with the opinions of the experts identified the original questionnaire,through the testing and questionnaire data analysis,using the combined method of qualitative research and quantitative research on the application of competence characteristics of master degree of psychological inquiry and got to meet the requirements of statistical professional competence characteristics of master of applied psychology questionnaire.The results show that:(1)the self-designed questionnaire on the competence characteristics of postgraduates majoring in applied psychology has a good reliability and validity,which can be used to evaluate the competence of postgraduates majoring in applied psychology.(2)the competency model of graduate students majoring in applied psychology has five dimensions: professional competence,academiccompetence,assessment and diagnostic competence,professional ethics,and personality traits.The model is reliable and can help to select and train graduate students majoring in applied psychology.(3)the application of reading psychology graduate with significant differences working competence,on-the-job graduate competencies of applied psychology in personality traits,professional ability,professional ethics,consultation and diagnosis ability and the total score is significantly higher than reading above,this shows that the practical ability training and experience in psychology,the influence of tip students ability remains to be strengthened.(4)female graduate students majoring in applied psychology have significantly higher professional ethics,counseling and diagnostic ability,personality traits and overall scores than male students.(5)the applied psychology postgraduates in the excellent group were significantly higher than those in the general group in personality traits,professional ability,professional ethics,academic ability,consulting and diagnostic ability and overall scores.(6)postgraduates of applied psychology who did not cross the examination were significantly higher than those of applied psychology postgraduates who did not cross the examination in terms of professional competence,consulting and diagnostic competence and overall score,indicating the influence of professional background on professional competence.
