| The Confucius Institute is an important carrier for the export of Chinese culture. It plays a vital role in promoting the "soft power" of Chinese culture, accelerating the construction of " B&R " and building a "community of destiny",etc. The Confucius Institute is essentially a crosscultural study that has received the attention of scholars from different disciplines and fields in recent years. This paper is based on publicly available data from relevant network platforms and data organizations. From the perspective of geography, using big data analysis, mathematical statistics analysis, spatial visualization analysis, social network analysis and other methods, combined with entropy method, grey correlation degree, cultural distance, institutional distance and other models, this paper analyzes the statistical characteristics, temporal characteristics, spatial characteristics, communication modes, cooperative networks, influencing factors, linguistic and cultural characteristics, comprehensive mechanism of action and existing problems of Confucius Institute. Finally, propose relevant countermeasures and suggestions for the problems. The main conclusions:(1)Statistical characteristics. The overall number of Confucius Institutes is clearly concentrated in the big countries, the US advantage is the most obvious, and the number distribution of Confucius Classrooms is generally subject to the number distribution of Confucius Institutes.(2)Temporal characteristics.(1)The total number of Confucius Institutes has increased year by year, and the change has shown a "reverse spoon" evolution.(2)The Confucius Institutes in Asia,Europe, and North America have many characteristics, such as a large number of developments, early development, and long duration.Africa,Oceania, and South America are relatively few and intermittently opened, showing the "three more and three less" characteristics of group differentiation;(3)The development of Confucius Institutes shows a trend of change in stages, mainly through four stages of germination, rapid development, stable development and slow growth. At present, there is a certain growth saturation trend.(4)the Agglomeration and diffusion trend of Confucius Institute mainly has three stages,"the point-like average distribution gradually spreads to the periphery","the agglomeration effect is gradually enhanced",and "the "two mostly small" multi-core agglomeration distribution".(3)Spatial characteristics.(1)Affected by economic, political, and geographical factors, the Confucius Institute generally showed an uneven distribution of "three more and three less" and the coastal layout features were obvious;(2)Asian regions are more affected by spatial distance factors.(3)For domestic cooperation unit,"more in east and less in west" is obvious.(4)Most Confucius Institutes have the distribution characteristics of "one city, one Institutes"(4)Cooperation mode.Relying on the platform of the university to promote Chinese language and culture is the most important development model of the Confucius Institute. The government and non-government organizations have played a certain role in auxiliary promotion.(5)Cooperative network.(1)Asian countries bordering China are more likely to "cooperate nearby",and the comprehensive level of urban development is the most important for other Asian countries not bordered by China.(2)The Confucius Institute in North America and Europe has the most intensive cooperation network, and there are obvious coastal distribution characteristics in the contact nodes.(3)The differences in the level of economic development and the degree of population density in China’s eastern and western regions determine the competitiveness and participation of foreign cultural communication in cities within a certain degree.(6)Influencing factor.(1)The total export volume, the flow and stock of OFDI,GDP,land area, and population are particularly prominent, and the correlation with the number of Confucius Institutes is the largest.(2)Economic factors dominate, geographic factors are second, and political and cultural factors are relatively small.(7)Linguistic and cultural characteristics(1)The distribution of cultural differences in the Confucius Institute’s online platform is generally consistent with the actual spatial layout of the Confucius Institute. The cultural differences between daily life and customs are most obvious.(2)An excellent Confucius Institute must have a good cultural communication environment, perfect and efficient management mechanism, exquisite and targeted teaching content, and a solid and innovative brand building model.(3)Compared with the Goethe Institute in Germany, the Confucius Institute has a relatively short development time and is in the stage of scale development. There is still much room for improvement in management mode, education and teaching, and cultural promotion.Good policy drive is the common development foundation of Confucius Institute and Goethe Institute.(8)Comprehensive impact mechanism.Under the influence of the pushes and pulls of the Chinese supply system and the foreign demand system,China and foreign countries began to cooperate to build the Confucius Institute. In the cultural communication process of the Confucius Institute, the cultural output direction will be limited by the resistance factor, and the cultural feedback direction will be promoted by resultant factor.under the effect of the pushes and pulls, resistance and resultant,According to the different degrees of opening up between China and foreign countries, the development of Confucius Institutes will undergo three stages: preliminary testing, mutual trust development, consolidation and improvement.(9)Problems.At present, the Confucius Institute has problems such as uneven regional development, single cooperation mode, insufficient education and teaching, insufficient operational motivation, serious staff turnover, lack of primary and secondary education, less propaganda methods and channels, and obvious differences in culture and system.Countermeasures and suggestions. In response to the above problems,a series of solutions have been proposed from the aspects of regional development, cooperation mode, education and teaching. |
