| With the rapid development of China‘s foreign economy, trade cooperation and exchanges are increasing with each passing day.At the same time, more and more government agencies and enterprises turn to business fairs to attract investment and promote trade prosperity. In fairs with foreign participants, the interpreter who acts as the bridge of communication and the coordinator of non-verbal communication plays an indispensable role in the negotiation process. However, there are not many studies on consecutive interpreting for fairs. Therefore,it is of practical significance to seek solutions to problems. This paper aims to carry out a case study under the guidance of Skopos Theory and sum up some useful strategies for fair consecutive interpreting.Taking the corpus from the 1st International Tea Export Fair for analysis, this paper classifies the cases according to the three rules of Skopos Theory, namely the skopos rule, the coherence rule, and the fidelity rule. After analyzing the difficulties encountered in interpreting, some strategies are adopted under the guidance of Skopos Theory to achieve the purposes of this task.It is summarized that the skopos rule can be realized by extraction and intervention, the coherence rule by amplification and liberal interpreting, and the fidelity rule by conversion and literal interpreting. It is hoped that the interpreting strategies for fairs based on the Skopos Theory could offer some references for interpreters and researchers in this field. |
